Poland-based rally team M-Sport has introduced the all-new Ford Fiesta Rally4, the first car to be homologated to the FIA’s new regulations, which are updated for the 2020 season.
The latest version of the two-wheel-drive rally car is developed and built at M-Sport’s base in Krakow, Poland, and is powered by the 999cc turbocharged Ford EcoBoost engine. For 2020, the car will feature an increase in power, with the powertrain now outputting 210PS and 315NM of torque, alongside stronger driveshafts and improved gear ratios to deliver the improved power.
Based on its predecessor, the Fiesta R2, which delivered multiple impressive performances at international and national championships throughout 2019, the Fiesta Rally4 has had a number of key aspects enhanced including the vehicles handling characteristics, suspension changes and a lightweight exhaust system. Due to the weight reduction and the increased power, the Fiesta now has the best power-to-weight ratio of the RC4 class.
Maciej Woda, board member for M-Sport Poland, commented, “The EcoBoost-powered Rally4 represents a comprehensive development of the highly successful 2019 Fiesta R2, which proved to be very popular throughout the 2019 season.
“The Fiesta R2’s popularity and success is, in part, a contributing factor to the fact M-Sport Poland has been able to turnaround a wide variety of improvements in a relatively short space of time.”
