The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has granted the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One (AMF1) team a three-star environmental accreditation following a full audit and evaluation carried out in September 2022. The award is the FIA’s highest level of environmental recognition.
The motorsport governing body’s Environmental Accreditation Programme evaluates companies’ best practices and seeks to support motorsport stakeholders by gathering information to improve their environmental credentials.
The three-star certification acknowledges that AMF1 has introduced a clear and consistent management system to maintain an extremely high level of environmental commitment. Over the past year, the team has established environmental and societal programs to improve company sustainability. This includes using a reduced amount of single-use plastic at the track or at the company’s headquarters, improved waste management and an all-staff electric car scheme.
The award also recognizes the construction of AMF1’s new state-of-the-art factory, which is expected to include a multitude of best-in-class sustainable and environmental systems and processes.
“I am pleased that we have received our FIA three-star environmental accreditation,” said Mike Krack, AMF1 team principal. “The award demonstrates our commitment to providing solutions to sustainability challenges through our people, operations and practices.
“We acknowledge that we are still at the start of our journey – there is still so much more that we can achieve as we continue to focus on implementing sustainable systems across the team and raise further environmental awareness.”
“We are delighted that the Aston Martin F1 team has earned three-star environmental accreditation from the FIA,” added Felipe Calderón, president of the FIA Environment and Sustainability Commission. “The framework exists to help all stakeholders achieve greater standards in their sustainability programs and demonstrate commitment to maintaining and improving those practices moving forward.
“The three-star standard is the very highest achievable: it clearly demonstrates best practice and underlines the progress and effort undertaken by the team to achieve it and to develop and advance a more responsible culture.”
