TWR, a constructor of bespoke automobiles, has unveiled its debut limited-production performance car, the Supercat V12 Super-GT. The order book for this vehicle is now open, coinciding with the release of its exterior design ahead of a full debut in summer 2024.
The Supercat draws inspiration from the classic Jaguar XJ-S, which was produced from 1975 to 1996, with the brawnier versions featuring V12 power. TWR’s reinterpretation of this iconic vehicle features a muscular carbon-bodied design, with vehicle designer Khyzyl Saleem and automotive enthusiast Magnus Walker contributing to its creation.
Powered by a supercharged V12 engine producing ‘in excess’ of 600hp and equipped with a manual transmission, the Supercat aims to deliver a truly engaging driving experience.
TWR plans to offer the Supercat in Europe and the USA, with total production limited to 88 units.
Reviving the motorsport racing team name Tom Walkinshaw Racing, TWR was established in 2020 by Tom Walkinshaw’s son, Fergus Walkinshaw, alongside his business partner, John Kane.
Under the leadership of Fergus Walkinshaw, over the past two years the engineering team at TWR has developed the Supercat to meet the highest performance and reliability standards.
“After more than two years of extensive design, the outcome is a true driver’s Super-GT built from the foundations of the iconic Jaguar XJ-S and appropriately named the Supercat. This bold expression of the breed fulfills our mission to build cars worthy of TWR’s winning legacy, starting with this remarkable car as it enters its 50th year,” explained Walkinshaw.
The company says the Supercat represents a fusion of classic design and modern engineering, setting the stage for future TWR projects.
