The headquarters of NEOM McLaren Electric Racing – which competes as the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, and also as the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team in Extreme E – has moved to Bicester Heritage’s motoring marina in the UK, where over 45 automotive and motorsport companies are based.
The next phase of McLaren Racing’s electric motorsport journey is set to begin when the team enters Season Nine of the 2022/2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in the Gen3 era. The company formed its Formula E team following the acquisition of the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team.
By moving into Formula E, McLaren Racing seeks to cement its commitment to electric vehicle motorsport in addition to accelerating the team’s sustainability journey.
“McLaren’s expansion into another racing series like Formula E, is as unique as our site,” said Daniel Geoghegan, chief executive of Bicester Motion. “We look forward to supporting them during this next phase of their development.”
“It’s an exciting time for the team and the sport,” added Ian James, managing director, NEOM McLaren Electric Racing. “We are embarking on a new chapter, as part of the McLaren Racing family. Basing ourselves at the unique location of Bicester Heritage, we have the advantage of being surrounded by people who are as passionate about motorsport as we are.”
