UK-based R53 Engineering is to supply a bespoke damper package to the FIA RX2e electric rallycross class.
Based around the company’s ST46 coil over shock, R53 has tweaked the damper and spring package to suit the demands of the junior electric RX machines. The basic package consists of a three-way adjustable damper featuring a 46mm piston running in an aluminum body and hard-chromed damper shaft, with the RX cars also running a hydraulic bump-stop system.
With many of the company’s engineers, including MD Roger Estrada, originating from the Mitsubishi Ralliart WRC program, and having worked on a range of motorsport projects both on- and off-track, including the Dakar, the FIA deemed that the company’s experience made it an ideal candidate for the RX2e program.
Commenting on the program, Estrada said, “The new FIA RX2e Championship poses a series of tough technical questions for suppliers and partners, but the expert team at R53 Engineering have risen to the challenge and produced a product that perfectly caters to the needs of the series. We are accustomed to being at the forefront of elite level motorsport, and it is a privilege to be part of a new dawn in rallycross as we transition into an electric future.”
