Grob Systems, a manufacturer of systems and machine tools, has announced a partnership with Hendrick Motorsports, the 14-time NASCAR Cup Series champion based in Concord, North Carolina. This collaboration involves the integration of precision five-axis Grob machines into Hendrick Motorsports’ operations, aiming to enhance the performance of the four-car Cup Series team.
Three Grob universal five-axis machining centers are currently in production at Hendrick Motorsports – two G350a machines and one G550a machine from the Grob Access-Series machining centers line-up. Designed to meet application requirements, these machines feature a rigid spindle axis, efficient machine cooling and an overhead function for superior chip evacuation and reduced thermal load in parts.
Michael Hutecker, CEO of Grob Systems, said, “With Grob’s trusted machinery bolstering the team’s renowned capabilities, we hope to pave the path for future triumphs on the track. As longtime partners of General Motors, we’re excited to fuel Hendrick Motorsports’ success with our cutting-edge equipment, driving innovation and performance to new heights.”
Michael Tummond, Hendrick Motorsports’ engine engineering manager, added, “A lot of the standard features with these machines will allow us to make extremely accurate parts down to the micron level. There is a direct correlation between accuracy and power. Ultimately, it is going to result in faster race cars. That is the whole goal here.”
