The iconic Ford Escort Mk1 is being reimagined by Boreham Motorworks and is set to be unveiled on December 12, 2024. It takes inspiration from high-performance Escort Mk1 variants that dominated the world of motorsports, from the Boreham-built Escort Twin-Cam and championship-wining Alan Mann Racing Group 5 car to the iconic RS2000.
Boreham says its cars celebrate the road, race and rally icons of Ford Motor Company and its important heritage, and that the new Escort will not be an EV or hybrid but will use petrol engines and manual transmission only.
Boreham states that the new Escort “seamlessly integrates cutting-edge engineering and design with the raw driving spirit of the original Rallye Sport icons” and that it has been designed to be the “definitive successor”, engineered for an analog driving experience.
Iain Muir, DRVN Automotive Group CEO, said, “At DRVN, we understand that true automotive passion comes from the connection between driver and machine — a relationship forged in the sound, feel and response of a car designed to be driven. The Ford Escort Mk1 embodies this ethos, blending timeless design with performance that inspires confidence and joy. We design for the road, not the runway. We embrace everything drivers love about cars.”
Technical details and powertrain specifications of the model are yet to be revealed.
