McLaren Motorsport has unveiled the new Artura Trophy Evo, set to debut in the 2025 McLaren Trophy season. A new Pro category and McLaren Trophy Academy program will also be added to the series.
The Artura Trophy Evo, an evolution of its predecessor, incorporates increased power, wider tires and refined suspension. Launched in Europe in 2023, the McLaren Trophy will expand to North America in 2025, providing parallel championships for both amateur and professional drivers.
Eligible from the 2025 season, the Artura Trophy Evo features a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine capable of delivering 620PS, thanks to a ‘Push to Pass’ system that provides an extra 35PS for overtaking. The car’s design also includes wider tires and aerodynamic adjustments, such as a modified front bumper and bonnet outlet for better cooling, as well as larger wheel arches to accommodate the increased tire size. These changes, according to McLaren, result in improved traction and stability.
Alongside the new car, McLaren Motorsport is introducing a Pro category for Silver drivers, aimed at fostering professional talent in GT racing. Drivers under 26 will automatically be enrolled in the McLaren Trophy Academy, a program designed to develop future McLaren champions through workshops focused on driving skills, motorsport engineering and media training.
The McLaren Trophy Academy also provides a pathway to the McLaren Factory Driver program. Champions of the Pro category in both Europe and America will gain a spot in the McLaren Young Driver Shoot Out, with the winner advancing to become a McLaren Factory Driver.
“The team at McLaren Motorsport has created a stunning car in the new Artura Trophy Evo, which was designed to build upon our existing McLaren Trophy product following feedback from teams and drivers. It looks spectacular and the introduction of the new Pro category and McLaren Trophy Academy will add even more excitement to the championships,” said Mick McDonagh, director of MSO and motorsport at McLaren Automotive.
