An FIA delegation led by Manuel Aviñó, the federation’s vice president for sport Europe, has completed a location check for the planned Auto Moto Park Albania, which is set to become the country’s first international racing venue.
Located 40km from Albania’s capital, Tirana, near the city of Elbasan, the circuit has been designed by Test & Training International, a company founded by ex-Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz. During the location check, Wurz was on-site to present a design study and a project overview of the proposed circuit.
Auto Moto Park Albania aims to initially obtain a Grade 3 of FIA Circuit License, enabling it to host events with cars with a power-to-weight ratio of 2-3kg/bhp, such as Formula 3, Formula 4, TCR and GT3 vehicles.
Auto Moto Park Albania is scheduled for completion within three years, and takes into consideration the environmental, social and economic effects of the proposed facility. The aim of the circuit is to grow motorsport within Albania and other Balkan countries.
