For the 2019 racing season, Audi Sport’s customer racing cars will be competing in two worldwide programs – GT3 and touring cars – with the revised R8 LMS GT3 and the RS3 LMS TCR car.
Audi Sport has delivered the first new-generation R8 LMS to Team Attempto Racing. The car was handed over to team principal Arkin Aka by Head of Audi Sport customer racing Chris Reinke. In its first season with Audi Sport customer racing, the outfit, based in Hanover, achieved third place in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup with Kelvin van der Linde/Steijn Schothorst in September.
The updated R8 can also be seen in the 2019 Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup one-make race series. The championship, which is open exclusively to privateers, sees the R8 LMS GT3 and GT4 cars competing on a large selection of tracks around the world. The eighth season will add the new generation of R8 GT3 to the fold.
