Toyota Gazoo Racing has withdrawn from the 24 Hours of Nürburgring citing the impact of COVID-19 has delayed car development. The 48th edition of the race is scheduled for September 24 – 27, and Toyota was intending to enter with a factory Lexus LC.
The Japanese giant says the travel restrictions that have been applied to control the virus have meant that the team did not have time to conduct track tests. Gazoo had planned to run a new engine and peripheral technologies in the famous race.
Toyota, which has competed in the race since 2007, will be back in 2021.
