Mazda Motorsport has selected Multimatic Motorsports, the competition department of engineering firm Multimatic, to run both of the brand’s RT24-P prototype race cars for the IMSA Sportscar Championship.
Multimatic, which has valuable experience in racing operations and car development, has been tasked with the successful operation of Mazda’s North American racing program. Mazda’s RT24-P is set to feature in the IMSA Sportscar Championship’s fastest Daytona Prototype class.
Nelson Cosgrove, director of Mazda Motorsports, said, “Mazda is looking forward to going racing with Multimatic when the IMSA resumes and we have a shared goal of winning the IMSA driver and manufacturer’s championships.” He added, “The management and engineering staff of Multimatic are familiar with our team and will continue to elevate our program.”
For this season, the driver line-up remains the same as previously, with UK drivers Harry Tincknell and Oliver Jarvis behind the wheel of the high-tech prototype. With the Sebring 12 Hours being postponed until later in the year, the IMSA series will continue once sporting events are able to restart in North America.
