The season opener of the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship will be held in Gap in Southeast France following an announcement on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 by the Automobile Club de Monaco.
From 2014 to 2021, the Hautes-Alpes town of Gap hosted the first round of the WRC, until 2022 when the rally was relocated to Monaco. For the 2024 season, however, the Rallye Monte-Carlo will return to Gap.
The Automobile Club de Monaco said in a statement, “Due to major works, it was unable to secure all the space required to maintain the service park and the various infrastructures in the Principality. Therefore, the organizing Committee of the Automobile Club de Monaco decided to return to the Hautes-Alpes department, more precisely to Gap, the host city from 2014 to 2021. However, the official start, finish and prize-giving ceremony of the event will continue to be held in Monaco.”
The 92nd running of the race will be held on January 22-28, 2024, with the route announced in July this year.
