Saudi Arabia has revealed plans for a new racetrack in Qiddiya City, to support its goal of positioning the country as a leading destination for motorsport.
The Speed Park Track, overlooked by the Tuwaiq Mountains, is designed to host major international championships and is intended to become “one of the world’s leading motorsport venues”, according to funding partner Qiddiya Investment Company.
Designed by former Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz and circuit designer Hermann Tilke, the track features 21 corners and uses Qiddiya City’s landscape to create more than 108m of elevation gain per lap. A standout feature is the Blade – an elevated section rising more than 20 stories above the ground.
The configurable track integrates street circuit and open track sections, complementing neighboring attractions like Six Flags Qiddiya City and a water theme park.
The project follows the recent announcements of the Qiddiya City Gaming & Esports District and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, with more developments expected in the near future.
Abdullah Aldawood, managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company, said, “The Speed Park Track will be a true embodiment of Qiddiya’s power of play philosophy and position Qiddiya City as the home of Saudi motorsport and one of the world’s leading motorsport venues.
“Visitors and spectators will be treated to one of the most unique race experiences in the world with a pioneering track that will be ready to host some of the world’s biggest motorsport events.”
