Professional Motorsport World Expo-sponsored Scott Faulkner Rallying has started this year’s BTRDA Championship strongly.
The British Trial and Rally Drivers’ Association (BTRDA) Rally Series comprises seven events staged through the UK between February and September. The series is one of the most popular rally championships in the UK with hundreds of registered competitors participating each year.
The Scott Faulkner Rallying team competes in a Mitsubishi Evo 9 in the Championship’s Production class, more commonly known as Group N. Group N cars are road cars with a roll cage, fire extinguisher and improved suspension to ensure better reliability on rougher gravel stages.
Group N is heavily scrutinized because only minimal modifications are allowed.
Faulkner and co-driver Gareth Parry placed third in Group N at the first event of the series, the Cambrian Rally in Wales in February and earlier this month won the Group N class at The Malcolm Wilson Rally in Cumbria, finishing fifth overall. The team now leads Group N and is second overall in the main BTRDA Championship as it heads into round three, a return to Wales for the Rallynuts event in April.
Scott Faulkner said, “Securing the sponsorship really has been key – I’ve never had the budget confirmed as early as we did this season. It’s opened a lot more doors for the team and allowed me to be 100% focused on my driving and how we can develop the team through 2019.”
“We’ve also secured a deal with Midlands-based motorsport specialist C1-R. They have been able to prepare the car really early in the year for us.
The team has also moved to Pirelli Tyres this season.
Other main sponsors for the Scott Faulkner Rallying team in 2019 include Pirelli Tyres (UK), Speedline Corse Wheels, AMS Arnside Motorsport and Garry Davies Accident Repairs (Aberystwyth).
