Symmons Plains Raceway will continue to host a stage of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship until at least 2023, after the Tasmanian Government and the race series agreed to extend their contract by four years.
Including the 2019 stage, the Australian government has investedĀ A$5.6m (US$3.85m) in the race to date, and a further A$1.75m (US$1.2m) is expected to be given to Motorsports Tasmania for facility improvements.
The track, which is situated close to Launceston, is one of the oldest circuits to feature on the Australian Supercars circuit, and with 47 events having been held there, it is second in the all-time list of most visited single venues on the circuit.
