The W Series has canceled the 2020 series due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Races were due to start on May 30 in St Petersburg, Russia, and finish in Mexico City on October 31.
The decision not to hold the eight-race series was taken in consultation with the FIA, F1, DTM and W Series partners and suppliers. Racing is scheduled to restart in 2021 with at least two races on the Formula 1 calendar in Austin, Texas, and Mexico City.
Catherine Bond Muir, CEO of W Series, said, “Now that we have taken the very difficult but ultimately unavoidable decision to end any uncertainty surrounding our 2020 plans, we will focus our energies clearly on 2021, when we will resume our on-track racing program, bigger and better than ever before.”
