Williams Racing has partnered with autonomous ride-hailing company Zoox for a multi-year agreement, with the Zoox logo to appear on Williams F1 cars for races in the US — starting with this month’s Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Zoox – an independent subsidiary of Amazon – says it is reinventing personal transportation with its purpose-built robotaxi, which will be present in Williams’ Las Vegas Fan Zone at the New York-New York hotel throughout race week.
For 2025 and beyond, Zoox will be involved with events in Las Vegas, Austin and Miami – three cities where its autonomous tech is currently in the testing phase. The company will welcome its first public riders into its robotaxi in Las Vegas in 2025.
This is the first instance of a partnership between an autonomous company and a Formula 1 team, bringing together two opposite worlds of pioneering technology. Williams Racing team principal James Vowles said, “Williams Racing is excited to be bringing the future of mobility into Formula 1 and delighted to welcome Zoox as the first autonomous vehicle company to become a partner in the sport.”
Carly Wyatt, Zoox’s head of communications and marketing, added, “This unique collaboration between a Formula 1 racing team and a robotaxi company presents an opportunity to provide deeper, behind-the-scenes insights into how these two industries are using similar cutting-edge technologies, including the latest advances in AI, to reshape the future of both motorsports and mobility.”
