Tire supplier Yokohama has announced its plans to support motorsport events in 2019. In 2019, Yokohama will be participating in a variety of events in Japan and around the world, from the top-category races to grassroots races, it said.
“In addition to supporting our pursuit of the most advanced technologies, our enthusiastic and active participation in motorsport enables us to contribute to the further development of the motorsport market, said Yokohama.
The main races the company will support include the Japanese Super Formula Championship, to which it will be supplying Advan tires with two specs – a medium-compound tire and a soft-compound tire. The Advan A005 will be used in races run on dry tracks and the Advan A006 will be used on wet tracks. This year’s sizes will be 270/620R13 for front tires and 360/620R13 for rear tires.
Yokohama will also support the Japanese Formula 3 Championship and the Super-FJ Formula racing series; as well as the GT Touring Car Races around the world, including the World Toring Car Cup, to which it is supplying 250/660R18 size Advan A005 tires for use on dry tracks and the same size Advan A006 for running on wet tracks during the series’ 10 planned races.
It is also to supply Advan racing tires to the TCT Japan series TCR Europe, and such national series as TCR UK, TCR Iberico, TCR Benelux, TCR Germany and the TCR Scandinavia series.
The company will support GT300 and GT500, supplying teams competing in the Nürburgring 24-Hour Endurance Race and VLN Endurance Championship. It will support teams, including Kondo Racing, in Super GT races with the Advan A005 for use in dry conditions and the ADVAN A006 on wet tracks.
Other race series being supported include the Japanese Rally Championship, several off-road races around the world, and karting competitions in Japan and elsewhere in Asia.
