BMW has announced that in addition to the already confirmed one-make races within the DTM, and the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), the BMW M2 CS Racing will run in two further single-make series, one in the Benelux countries and the other in Italy in 2021. Alongside this, Recaro has been announced as the technical partner for BMW M Motorsport M2 CS Racing.
DTM races will be held in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, and the aptly named BMW M2 CS Racing Cup NLS will be hosted on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit. These two race series are now joined by the recently announced BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Benelux and the BMW M2 CS Racing Cup Italy.
For the first time, competitors and teams in the NLS and both of the one-make cups will have the choice of running a 365ps inline six-cylinder variant, or a more powerful 450ps version that will feature Recaro’s own seats.
Thomas Felbermair, vice president of sales and marketing at BMW M, commented, “The way the BMW M2 CS Racing has been received by teams and drivers is really impressive and shows that we have really hit the spot with the development of our new entry-level motorsport model. As well as the BMW M2 Cup in the DTM and the three one-make cups in Benelux, Italy and within the Nürburgring Endurance Series, the car will also compete in many other race series around the world.”
The first race is set to begin on Saturday, March 27 at the Nürburgring.
