Jonathan Wheatley is to leave his position as sporting director at Oracle Red Bull Racing and take on the role of team principal with the Audi F1 project.
Red Bull Racing’s team principal and CEO, Christian Horner, acknowledged Wheatley’s contributions over his 18-year tenure. “Jonathan’s work has been instrumental in our success, contributing to six World Constructors’ titles and seven World Drivers’ Championships, first as team manager and later as sporting director.”
Wheatley will remain in his current position until the end of the 2024 season as Oracle Red Bull Racing aims to defend its World Drivers’ and World Constructors’ titles. Following this, he will take a period of gardening leave in 2025.
The team expressed their gratitude and best wishes to Wheatley for his new role. A new team structure will be announced in the coming weeks.
