Several senior technical personnel moves within Formula 1 have been confirmed in the last week.
The running dispute between Aston Martin and Red Bull over the start date of the latter’s long-time aerodynamicist, Dan Fallows (above), at the former Racing Point team has finally been resolved. In a joint statement, the two teams said, “Dan will join Aston Martin on 2 April 2022 – until then, he remains a Red Bull Technology employee. Dan has been with Red Bull since 2006, most recently as chief engineer – aerodynamics.”
Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing’s team principal and CEO, added, “We would like to thank Dan for his many years of excellent service and wish him well for the future.”
Martin Whitmarsh, group CEO of Aston Martin Performance Technologies, said, “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Red Bull which releases Dan early from his contract and are looking forward to him joining the team.”
Meanwhile, CEO Jost Capito’s shakeup at Williams has continued, with engineering director Adam Carter departing. Capito has been restructuring the engineering department at the Oxfordshire-based team, bringing in a number of former VW Motorsport colleagues to senior positions. At the start of last season Francois-Xavier Demaison assumed the role of technical director (a position he had held at VW) and at the end of the year, Sven Smeets became sporting director.
