Lamborghini has announced that it will pause its FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) sporting programs at the end of the current season, in the Hypercar and LMGT3 classes.
The brand made its WEC debut earlier this year. It came through a challenging maiden season, with the Lamborghini SC63 LMDh prototype achieving a top-10 finish at the Le Mans 24 Hours, entering the Hyperpole session at Fuji for the first time. It also achieved a podium finish in LMGT3 at Spa-Francorchamps.
Lamborghini said competing at the highest level is an honor for Lamborghini Squadra Corse and that it remains an ambition for the years to come. The new FIA WEC sporting regulations mandate brands to field two cars in the Hypercar class from 2025. Lamborghini said that this changes the terms on which it initially entered the championship, and no longer aligns with the company’s strategy.
Lamborghini evaluated its options and elected to sit out the 2025 FIA WEC while remaining focused on the SC63 development by continuing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in USA.
The pause also allows Lamborghini Squadra Corse to focus its efforts on development of the new Temerario GT3, which is set to be unveiled after completing outdoor testing in 2025.
