Optimum Motorsport has confirmed that it will enter a McLaren 720S GT3 in the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup as a McLaren Customer Racing team.
McLaren factory drivers Rob Bell and Joe Osborne, alongside new professional driver Ollie Wilkinson, will be behind the wheel for the GT3’s GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup debut.
Optimum Motorsport, the latest team to join the McLaren Customer Racing stable, will contest the full, five-round calendar. The opening round takes place at Monza, Italy, after which the championship visits Silverstone, UK, and Circuit Paul Ricard, France. This is followed by the Total 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium. The Endurance Cup then heads for the season finale at the Nürburgring, Germany.
“I am really pleased to welcome Optimum Motorsport to the McLaren Customer Racing family,” said Ian Morgan, director of motorsport, McLaren Automotive. “The team has worked extremely hard to achieve some fantastic results over the past few years, and this confirmation of an all-British Pro entry with Rob, Joe and Ollie running in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup is extremely exciting.”
McLaren factory driver Rob Bell’s latest commitment for 2020 adds to the full British GT campaign with Balfe Motorsport, where he drives alongside Graham Johnson, the managing director of UKi Media & Events, the company that organizes Professional MotorSport World Expo.
