Catesby Tunnel, the UK indoor vehicle test facility housed in a repurposed railway tunnel, is set to host an open day and networking event for industry professionals to experience the facility.
The event will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Located in rural Northamptonshire, the Catesby Tunnel features a 2.7km straight and is the world’s longest (indoor) testing facility of its kind, capable of carrying out aerodynamics and vehicle performance testing.
This is the second time the tunnel is opening its doors after it first did it in 2023. As with last year, the day will be split into time slots for the guests to choose from. Each slot will include an introductory presentation, live demonstration and tour of the tunnel. Following that, guests can stay and engage with exhibitors and network.
Some of the exhibitors include Racelogic, Kistler, Intrepid Control Systems, Evolution Measurement and Siemens. An addition for this year is Ford Heritage Centre, which will exhibit a curated collection of cars at the event. Other exhibitors include CFD pioneers Bramble, advanced engineering specialists JRM and additive manufacturing experts Dash-CAE.
“Last year we welcomed close to 200 industry professionals from major OEMs and world class race teams, with many travelling from overseas for the event. This year we aim to put on an even bigger and better event and look forward to welcoming people to Catesby Tunnel once again”, said Jon Paton, managing director of Catesby Projects.
