Audi Sport’s R8 LMS GT2 has made its US debut in California at the Monterey Car Week, following its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. The latest model from Audi Sport incorporates learnings from Audi drivers and race teams.
Featuring the highest specification of the OEM’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter engine, which generates 640bhp, the Audi R8 LMS GT2 is the most powerful race car Audi Sport customer racing has developed.
Joining the Audi Sport customer-racing line-up, which includes GT3 and GT4, the R8 LMS GT2 is designed for a new formula of GT racing that will be introduced in 2020. For 2020, SRO America has confirmed a five-round GT2 calendar.
