Craft-Bamboo Racing has announced that it has been appointed the official technical partner for Porsche Motorsport in the Asia-Pacific region, marking an important step in the team’s ambitions of further establishing themselves as a leading GT squad.
Craft-Bamboo states that thanks to the ‘vast’ global reach of Porsche, it will provide a solid foundation for the team to continue expanding its sports car programs; which includes a two-car championship title defense with the all-new Porsche 911 GT3 R in the 2016 GT Asia Series. The specific details of the technical partnership will be announced shortly, which will include technical support for customers of the 911 GT3 R in the Asia-Pacific region.
Apart from the GT Asia Series, the Hong Kong based team will also compete with the 911 GT3 Rs in the FIA GT World Cup at the Macau Grand Prix, as well as the Sepang 12 Hour in December. 2017 will see the team return to the mighty, Mount Panorama, in Australia, to tackle the Bathurst 12 Hours, where they will be looking to take the top step of the podium after scoring third place in 2015.
“Porsche Motorsport recognizes Craft-Bamboo Racing’s success and determination as a top international team, and it is with great confidence that we are able to appoint them as our official technical partner in the Asia-Pacific region,” explained Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, vice president of Porsche Motorsport. “The GT3 class has become one of the most highly contested and challenging arenas of motorsport, and therefore we put immense focus into developing the new 911 GT3 R. We are confident that our cars will provide Craft-Bamboo Racing with the performance they need to continue winning championships in Asia and around the world.”
“The capability to win championships is not something that is created overnight, but something that is built with years of hard work and dedication,” added Richard Coleman, Chief Executive of Craft-Bamboo Racing. “We want to continue that tradition of victory and become a part of one of the greatest motorsport stories in history. We have grown from strength to strength as we continue to build on the team’s commercial platform. Porsche is a marque that can deliver both on and off the racetrack, and combined with their unrivalled winning heritage, is the making of something truly special. To give ourselves the best possible chance at winning on race day, we believe that having the support of a strong brand is pivotal to our success and we have always hoped to work alongside a manufacturer that can help elevate our team to the next level. I believe, in joining Porsche, we have found the perfect partner.”
