Mahindra Racing’s team principal, Dilbagh Gill, tweeted images earlier this week of the new FIA Formula E front wing. Currently undergoing testing ahead of the 2016/7 season, the M3ELECTRO was the first car to publically appear with the new nose fitted. A radical departure from the outgoing model, the new look draws heavily from the previously teased, and forthcoming, ‘Roborace’ autonomous series.
The new wing has been implemented on aesthetic grounds rather than performance oriented reasons, and will bridge the gap to season five when an all-new chassis will be introduced. Bodywork downstream of the front wing will remain unchanged for season three, but the wing will be accompanied by new Michelin tires, and a new steering wheel for the drivers.
As of yet, the winner of the season five chassis tender process has yet to be announced.
