JRM Group is continuing its preparations for the 2015 season by recruiting Paul Eastman to lead its Advanced Engineering department.
The Daventry-based motorsport preparation specialist is running a number of competition programs in 2015, and according to JRM, Eastman will ‘mastermind the engineering requirements of each’.
Eastman is the former Head of Rally Engineering at Prodrive and was responsible for the engineering effort that was required to design and develop the MINI as a World Rally Car in 2011. Because of this background, one of Eastman’s responsibilities is to prepare the JRM’s recently acquired MINI RX cars for an anticipated competition program in 2015.
“The MINI has lots of unfulfilled potential in motorsport and I’m delighted that one of my roles at JRM will be to unlock that,” Eastman explained. “I believe the MINI belongs in rallycross because the set-up and layout of the car suits the sport.
“We’re extremely pleased to bring Paul in to head up our Advanced Engineering department,” stated Nigel Riddle, JRM’s special projects manager. “We believe he’s one of the most talented engineers in the motorsport industry and his experience will be crucial as we gear up for the new season.”
It is set to be a busy season for JRM, with the company also announcing entries in both the Blancpain Endurance Series, and the German ADAC GT Masters Championship.
A single car entry for a new 2015 spec Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 (below) will contest both the Blancpain Endurance Series and the Blancpain Sprint Series in the Pro-Cup class; the first time that the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 has featured in the elite all-Pro division.
JRM factory driver Craig Dolby has been announced as lead driver and will be joined by Sean Walkinshaw, the rapid young British driver the latest talented single-seater racer to transfer to the booming GT racing discipline.
This is in addition to a two-car attack on the German ADAC GT Masters Championship; a series that JRM states is ‘one of most professional and competitive national GT Championships.’
Top team MRS GT-Racing are set to field a two car team of brand new 2015 spec GT-Rs, with the cars currently in build in the UK at JRM Group.
