Renault Classic has contested the famous Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique since 2011, and this year, the team has announced it is to enter four crews in a variety of Renault 5 rally cars.
35 years after winning the Rallye Monte Carlo, former factory driver Jean Ragnotti, now 70 is poised to return to the mountanous stages in the same Renault 5 Turbo he steered to victory. To mark the anniversary, the French driver’s car will once again feature the number ‘nine’ on its doors.
In addition to car number 9, Renault will also field car 1, a Group 2 Renault 5 Alpine driven by Michel Leclère and François-Paul Forgeoux. Two other Group 2 Renault 5 Alpines are to be entered, with the pairings of Alain Serpaggi and Jean-Pierre Prevost in the number 12 car, whilst car 19 will be piloted by Christian Chambord and co-driven by Patrick Fourestie.
Team Renault Classic will start the 2016 Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique in Reims, France, on January 29. The event ends in Monaco on Wednesday, February 3.
