Valvoline will mark its 150th anniversary with a return to top-level German motorsport by supporting Callaway Competition, the German offshoot of US Corvette tuner Callaway, in their brand new Corvette C7 GT3-R throughout 2016.
As the oldest serving team on the ADAC GT Masters grid, the team is steeped in racing success. The Leingarten based team’s Corvette Z06.R GT3 has 23 race wins under its belt, making it the most successful car ever to have competed in the ADAC GT Masters.
“One hundred fifty years ago, Valvoline developed a petroleum based lubricant for steam engines in the United States,” said Alex van Leeuwen, marketing director for Valvoline Europe. “Since then, we have had a long history of industry-breaking innovations that have improved the performance of many engines across the globe. Today, as one of the largest producers of motor oil in the United States, it felt right to mark our return to German motorsport by supporting such an impressive American muscle car. We are confident that Valvoline’s top-quality products will play a part in the Callaway Competition’s forthcoming success, and that the relationship will help us further develop our line of products.”
“As the representative, distribution and logistics partner in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the entire product range of Valvoline premium lubricants, it is our responsibility, especially in Germany, to bring the brand back to former glory and old popularity,” added Klaus Huber, managing director of Oiltech Lubes Service GmbH & Co. KG. “Therefore we are very excited that we were able to partner up with one of the most successful racing teams in the ADAC GT Masters series, Callaway Competition. We are absolutely sure that this platform is perfectly suited to acquaint the lubricant brand Valvoline in Germany and Austria to a wide audience directly at the race track as well as live in television.”
“A Corvette prepared by Callaway has competed in all ADAC GT Masters races, so having Valvoline’s VR1 Racing Oil pumping through the heart of our Corvette C7 GT3-R fills us with confidence and makes for a more competitive race car,” Ernst Woehr, director Callaway Competition GmbH, reaffirms the sentiment. “We are grateful for the involvement of Valvoline and Oiltech and hope to reward their belief with results on track.”
