AirShaper took home the award for Professional MotorSport World Technology of the Year for its platform that makes aerodynamic analysis more accessible to both small and large teams.
The company’s founder, Wouter Remmerie, was at PMW Expo’s gala dinner to accept the accolade. He explained the concept, saying, “We’ve been working very hard to bring the complex domain of aerodynamics to race teams big and also small. That’s the essence of AirShaper – making it accessible [to teams that don’t have the in-house capacity to do aerodynamic simulations], so they can also improve their performance.”
“Aerodynamics is perceived as a very expensive black box – expensive wind tunnels, expensive engineers running simulations. We automated the concept of simulations through an online platform, so people can just upload a 3D model, set the basics like windspeed and orientation, and order the simulation. That’s it! Just a couple of hours or days later – depending on the accuracy, they get the full report.”
