The founder and chairman of Formula E, and founder of Extreme E, Alejandro Agag, was the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Motorsport Award at the Professional MotorSport World Awards.
Following successful careers in both politics and business, Alejandro Agag made the transition to motorsport in 2001. Together with business partner Flavio Briatore, Agag purchased the Formula 1 TV rights in Spain and successfully worked to increase the series’ foothold in the country of his birth.
Agag’s triumph in the world of motorsport continued, securing some of the sport’s largest global sponsorship deals and winning the tender to promote the FIA Formula E Championship. And under Agag’s guidance the series has gone from strength to strength, with an ever-increasing field and growing spectatorship.
Now synonymous with the continuous rise of the all-electric single-seat race series, the Spaniard hasn’t rested on his laurels: this year he revealed exciting plans for the all-new electric race series Extreme E.
