Nissan has unveiled the ‘RC’ racing version of its second-generation Leaf EV. The Leaf Nismo RC has an electric motor on each axle for all-wheel drive, producing a combined 240kW (322bhp) and 640Nm.
Those power and torque figures are roughly double what the previous Leaf RC could muster. Pushing just 1,220kg, the motors propel the carbon-fiber monocoque car to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.4 seconds.
The car’s three-piece bodywork includes removable front and rear sections, fixed windows, LED headlights and tail lights, and an adjustable rear wing for downforce. The new model is slightly longer than its predecessor, with an overall length of 4,546mm and a 2,750mm wheelbase.
The new car will be displayed and used for showcase runs at Formula E races, major motor shows and other events.
